O B J E C T I V E

To obtain a position with a progressive school providing the opportunity
to utilize and expand upon my teaching experience and capabilities in
Elementary Education.

W O R K H I S T O R Y

Elementary School Teacher (1st Grade), Pawtuckett August 2003 - Present
I act as a facilitator, using hands-on learning and interactive discussion groups to assist student learning of subjects and apply the concepts of math, science, social studies, and literacy. I have created an interactive website that students can access at school or at home. I have created numerous hands-on manipulatives to assist student learning. I establish a variety of teaching strategies that includes group work, teacher directed lessons, independent self-directed lessons, and hands-on activities. I encourage and improve student development by making each individual student feel worthwhile and good about her or himself and try to give them a positive learning experience to help shape their future education. I maintain a well-balanced positive learning environment with consistant discipline. I effectively communicate with peers, students, and their parents (through weekly newsletters and my classroom web page).

Elementary School Teacher (3rd grade), Pawtuckett August 2001 - 2003
I expanded student comprehension and knowledge of basic math (Saxon), literacy (Open Court), Science and Social Studies. I established a variety of teaching strategies that include group work, directed lessons and numerous hands-on activities. I maintained a well-balanced positive learning environment with consistant discipline. I effectively communicate with peers, students, and their parents.

Substitute Teaching, Parkview Elementary April 2001- May 2001
I have had the opportunity to work with preschool - 5th grade, Title I and Enrichment. I have taught all subjects within the curriculum of each grade.

Student Teaching and Practicum, Parkview Elementary 2000-2001
I have taught all subjects within the third grade curriculum. I assembled and taughtan extensive unit on Alaska and its culture. I assisted with various extra activities such as; parent council, Title I collaboration, and as a substitute in enrichment class. I attended meetings such as; school board, school staff, and BEA.

Preschool Workstudy, On Campus Daycare at WMC 1997 - 2000
I developed and taught unit plans and activities, attended staff meetings, collaborated with lead teacher and assistants, set up and implemented learning centers, coordinated parent/teacher get-togethers, cleaned and organized the center, organized and assisted on field trips, created learning materials and prop boxes, and I was a resource to students and teachers in locating materials needed for projects, activities, and units.

Interlibrary Loan Workstudy, Western Montana College Library 1996-1998
Computer input/output, customer service, general office (copying, filing, faxing, packing and mailing), I also worked with the Dewy Decimal System.

S T R E N G T H S

            Reading, understanding and reviewing various curriculum and required learning outcomes for first grade.
            Working with my first grade team to ensure that all students are taught the same information based on learning objectives.
            Developing themes, lesson plans and ideas for teaching both concrete and abstract skills.
            Teaching, supporting, motivating and encouraging students in all aspects of school activities.
            Assisting students in educational as well as social and behavorial growth by giving them numerous and varied learning opportunities.
            Meeting with parents, staff and other professionals that work with students to provide complete plans for all students in the classroom.
