My Philosophy of Education

      Learning is a lifelong process, beginning at birth. So, parents should be considered the child's first teacher. And as such, parents can provide a unique view of their child. A view that a teacher should use in order to best meet the needs of the student.

      Every student is an individual, and has their own learning style. The teacher should consider the different learning styles of all students in the classroom when creating the learning environment and curriculum.

      It is up to the teacher to provide a safe place, both physical and emotional, for each student. Every student should feel that they belong and find acceptance in the classroom.

      The teacher should model work habits, attitude, and a love of learning in order to cultivate that love in the students. The teacher should have an interesting and creative environment, and provide meaningful assignments for students to encourage extending knowledge through critical thinking and creativity.

      When creating a curriculum, the teacher should have many hands-on activities, centers, and opportunities for discovery learning. Whenever the students express a particular interest, the curriculum should be expanded to include it. Lessons should be interesting, and students should be able to explore and ask questions.

      When considering discipline, the teacher must treat students with respect, warmth, and it must be carried out in a consistent manner.
